Welcome!

Well, hello everyone! I am so excited for the beginning of the new school year and having a brand new group of students! I began this blog to help keep parents informed as to what's happening in our class. I want to make this blog fun and interesting for parents and teachers alike. My goal is to share class activities, happenings, ideas, websites and anything else that may come to mind for our student's education. Please feel free to explore our blog. I welcome any comments and/or ideas you may have. As a matter of fact, I encourage it! You can follow us by email for any new posts or updates.

We made through the first couple of weeks of school! What a wonderful group of children we have!  Some children had a few tears but they are all adjusting well.
We have been concentrating on rules and procedures. It is a lot for the students to take in.  We’ll continue working on rules, procedures and transitions from one activity to another.  Please talk with your child about using an inside voice in the classroom and being a good listener.  This will help reinforce what we are practicing in the classroom.  Thanks so much!
Reminders:
Ø  Parent meeting is this Thursday at 2:00.
Ø  Blankets will be sent home on Fridays to be washed and sent back to school on Monday.
Ø  Please remember to sign in, in the morning and out in the afternoon. First and last names.
Ø  Always make sure we have an updated phone number to contact you if we should need to.
I am going to list a few items for our wish list.  If you can help in anyway, it will greatly be appreciated.  These are things we need throughout the year for our classroom:
Paper towels         anti bacterial soap        baby wipes     quart/gallon size Ziploc bags    crayons
1 pack of copy paper         pencils            glue/glue sticks        markers         colored construction paper
Many of the items below may be items you have around the house.  These will be used for centers so that we may have a variety of items and interchange them out for our students.  This is only a partial list.  Please think of our class when cleaning out your child’s toy box.
dress up clothes (hats, scarves, ties, shoes, purses, etc)
Play doh          magnifying glasses    binoculars      bug box      plastic bugs      rock collection
kaleidoscopes          seashells           magnets        measuring cups/spoons   magazines
small items that can be sorted or glued to paper
Please remember this is only a wish list.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ms. McKenzie

All About Me Project
This month we will be learning and talking about “Home” and “All About Me”.
Attached you will find a sheet of paper for you to work with your child on an “All about me” project.  Please work with your child to complete it.  Know that we expect Pre- K work.  In other words, assist your child but allow your child to do the work.
You can use photos (make sure they are copies, if they were to get lost or torn), magazine pictures, small items that can be glued, crayons, paint, etc.
This project is all about your child.  Things you could include are:
Birthday and/or birthday pictures   baby pictures
Siblings        Mom and Dad pictures (child drawn and/or photos)
Favorite color     Favorite food     Favorite toys, movies, outside activities
Best friend   Things they like to do
Project due on Friday, September 13, 2013

Let us know if you have any questions.  Don’t forget to check the blog out in the future for pictures of the projects at www.mckenteach.blogspot.com
